MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I put up 7 trees each year. Plus, put out tons of other decor items, garland & lights on stairway banisters & around doorways, etc.
This is the largest tree. My most favorite. And, takes the longest to do. But, I LOVE it when it is all done.
(The picture was taken on my phone and does NOT do it justice. It is so much more beautiful in person...if I do say so myself).  :-)

Spacing Problems

I don't know what happened to my last post.
All the spacing is CRAZY !!!!
I have edited & edited & can't figure out how to fix it.

Miss Mandrell, Miss Mandrell

Did you watch the Barbara Mandrell show back in the early 80's ?

It was one of my most favorite shows. I don't think I ever missed an episode.

If you did watch it, you might remember these guys. They are called the Krofft Puppets.
One of them would have a sit-down conversation with Barbara each week, but would
always start out with...."Miss Mandrell, Miss Mandrell!"

Whenever I think of Barbara, I remember that puppet calling her name. :-)

On our recent trip to TN to visit Blake, we took a tour of what is called the Fontanel Mansion.

It's the former home of Barbara Mandrell. It is fabulous. It is now a tourist stop, with a Farmhouse restaurant & gift shops. It also has an outdoor venue that hosts concerts.
The mansion is also rented out for weddings, parties, receptions, etc.

The pool. It was covered that day due to a wedding reception being held there that night. They were in the midst of setting up and decorating for it.

Birthdays

May 31, 2011 - A day of Birthdays.




This handsome "dude" is my son's best friend, Blake.
He is the oldest son of my friend April, who I posted a picture of a few weeks back.
Blake turned 28 on May 31.









This lovely lady is my dear Grandma Opal.
She passed away on April 3, 2003 at the age of 90.
She would have turned 91 on May 31 of that year.









Then there is ME!!
Yes, my birthday was also May 31.
Yes, I was born on my Grandmother's birthday.
I was honored to share my birthday with her every year.

And, notice that I am not telling what my age is.
That would be TMI !!! (Tee!Hee!)

Nashville

I'm heading out to visit my son today.
He lives in Nashville.
I love Nashville LOTS!!
I love my son MORE!!

Doug hasn't been there since April of last year. Blake has been home, but it hasn't worked out for Doug to go there. The 2 of them hope to play golf. We might take in a couple tours. We have a checklist a mile long. We try to mark things off each time we go.

Tuesday is my birthday, so we will do a little early birthday celebrating, too!!

Love / Hate

We all have Love/Hate relationships about various things, don't we?
I know I have one for the gym. I took a month off from working out; not necessarily planned, but it just ended up happening. I missed about 5 days in a row because of scheduling conflicts & appointments. Then, decided to take a couple more off... you know...so I could start back up on the "right" day. Can't start in the middle of the week, can we?
Before long, an entire month had passed. I say to myself, "why do I do that"? "I'm going to hate myself for being negligent". (Doesn't that sound better than saying 'lazy' ?) HA!

So, this morning I got myself back to the gym. And, I have to say it felt good.

Here are a few "Love/Hates" about exercising/working out/going to the gym.

Can anyone identify with any of these ?




Love to feel good about ourselves & our bodies.
Hate what it may take to get us there.









Love the way we feel once we have worked out.
Hate the exertion it takes to do it.






Love the way we look after we have lost weight or toned up.
Hate to put the time in to get there.






Love to eat food.
Hate to count calories, carbs & fat grams.









Love to take a break from our work-outs for a week or 2 or more.
Hate to get back into the routine.

Love it when we are disciplined.
Hate it when we are not.

Love walking out of the gym when we are finished.
Hate taking time out of oue day to go.

What do you say? Any other Love/Hate comments regarding the gym ?

Fhoto Friday

Today is the birthday of one of my very good friends.

This is April. People often ask us if we are sisters.

We say yes. :-)

She is an only child. I am an only girl (I have 2 brothers).

I have one son. She has 3.

She has a Blake. I have a Blake.

The 2 Blake's are best friends.

They have known each other since Kindergarten & are still best buds to this day.
Her Blake now lives in FL. My Blake now lives in TN.

They don't see each other often, but the bond is there for life.

I love this girl. We have fun together. We like to cook, bake & swap recipes...and, oh yeah, talk about our boys.

Counting Coins

Today I counted a bag of coins that I had stashed in my drawer. There were no quarters...only dimes, nickels & pennies. The total came to $40.00 !!!! I was pleasantly surprised.
From here on out, I will be scrounging up all the loose change I can find to let it "add" up until the next time to count.

Devotional

I am being so blessed by this little Devotional.


It is fairly new & is selling out like hotcakes in the bookstores.


A friend gave it to me & I have since ordered extra copies to have "on hand" to give to those whom the Lord inspires me to do so.

Mother's Day 2011.

Last night Doug & I went to a Kenny Chesney concert. This is probably the closest I will ever get to the "real thing". It was great. We have seen Kenny at least 20 times. We love him. He is such a high energy person. He is a great entertainer. We had a great time.















Yesterday, I got flowers delivered to the house. They were from Blake. I love that guy. He is the best son.
